I haven't left the house in some time but my nan asked me if I wanted to go out to pick up some bird food for the outside birds and raptors. I also needed some food for my frog and plecs
I wasn't too fussed at first but she asked if I wanted to go to a garden centre that I knew had a lot of birds there. So of course, I HAD to go
They had all kinds of fish, furries, birds, reptiles etc. I can't remember exactly what they had but from off the top of my head they had an Alexandrine parakeet, 3 budgies all different, 1 lutino red fronted kakariki, 1 lutino yellow fronted kakariki, about 5 peach faced lovebird of different mutations, a blue masked lovebird, a hybrid lovebird, 3 red rump parrots all different mutations, 6 Bourke's parrots 1 rosie and 2 normal, 2 green cheek conures 1 normal and 1 pineapple, a Japanese quail, 4 diamond doves, various finches all in together (I saw cuthroat but I didn't have the chance to identify the others) and I think that's about it! Oh and 1 normal male cockatiel. Only the Alexandrine, green cheeks and cockatiel were hand raised birds. I couldn't believe the prices! The pineapple green cheek was £450 yet the Alexandrine was £550... I don't think they had a clue!
Honestly though, I can't stop thinking about a couple of those birds, but especially the Alexandrine. If I had the room I'd of snapped him up in a heart beat! I didn't get many photos of much, but I got a couple. They're a little blurry because the birds kept moving a lot
Here's the Alex
I have a really cute video of him playing with me and talking to me that I'll upload to youtube later and then put into this thread
Here's the yellow fronted kakariki (it was labelled as a red fronted but the red fronted next to it really showed the difference, yellow fronted have a lot less red!), it kept regurgitating to its reflection on the disk that holds its perch on, I don't think the staff had noticed because there was tons of seed and parrot love sick all over it! EW!
Here's the first green cheek I saw, he was hand reared but he wasn't really bothered about anybody around him, I don't think he's been handled much at all since they had him in the store...
Here's some blurry pictures of the pineapple green cheek. Now, I do love green cheeks, especially my own, but I was always told they're very cuddly and crazy and playful. Dexter has never been overly excited about me being around her and that was even before Pickles was around... so I don't really understand what happened there! I guess it's just her personality. WELL, this green cheek was exactly how they are meant to be! Extremely hyper, fun, bouncy, fluffy, crazy and wouldn't get off me haha!
After I'd gone to that store and not actually managed to buy anything
I ended up going to another one which I knew sold rats and the foods I wanted. I picked up everything I needed except for frog food which I just cannot find! And had a look around the birds there. They had 2 baby CAGs that had just come in, as well as 2 quaker babies being sold as a pair. They also had about 6 various mutations of peach faced lovebirds, a stack of different zebra finches and a bunch of budgies. They were all cute! But I didn't get many photos, before I'd left the house my battery was very low
Here's one of the quakers, for hand raised babies they sure were shy
Here's the grey babies
I fell head over heels for this budgie and if only I'd had some spare room I'd of taken him. He's an adult and not hand raised but his colours just knocked me off my feet! I must have a budgie like him some day!
I ALSO, fell for this bunny, I know it's nothing to do with birds but just look at his head!!!! My nan nearly took him home but we don't have the room at the moment
Yeah, they're not great but I wanted to share!
