Soooo my little baby green cheek came today! It's Dexter's sibling, making it more interesting. But he is
definitely what I expected in a green cheek conure. I have one who is an aviary bird who will sit on me but just prefers to hang out on top of his cage. He won't bite me but he will only step up, hands off kind of bird really. But he will step up which is good! And he interacts a lot too, like he'll take food from you no problem
Dexter, my hand raised turquoise yellow sided has always been the opposite of what everybody told me about green cheeks. She isn't the 'lie on back' type bird, she's loud, she doesn't really like people much but she will tolerate you and she's not that playful. Not like Pickles the maroon bellied x green cheek hybrid. It's very strange! She was hand raised by the same person as my new baby, and they are siblings 100%. He's smaller than her, has dark turquoise cheeks whereas hers are yellow, doesn't have her pink belly and his beak is already nearly black. Hers still isn't
he's super quiet, SUPER snuggly and extremely playful with people. He begs for scritches. I love all my conures in their own special ways but this little guy is 100% cuddlebug. We've been trying to think of names for a while, but Jack thought of Perry, like the platypus
Here he is!
