PostSubject: Taking up keeping plants    Sat Sep 08, 2012 9:04 am

I've never really kept plants before. Well, I lie! In the past my Nan bought me a Venus fly trap and I did not have a clue how to look after it. I must of been about 5 at the time. I left my Mom to look after it and it died not too long after I'd had it. Since then I'd also been given since cacti. I'd had 6, but now I'm down to 4. I've had them many years but also had those while I was really young so I didn't really know what to do with them then either, so my Nan I live with started watering them for me etc. While I was out at a garden centre the other day I thought, well why not! So I picked my self up a plant. I've looked up their care and it's really not hard. And now I'm old enough to understand what needs to be done when I can certainly take care of some. I just want the one now until I move out within these next few months. I got a 'lucky bamboo' AKA Ribbon Deacaena Dracaena sanderiana (I am fully aware it isn't bird safe so I have it where they wont be getting to it at all) It's a nice looking thing but I can't wait until it gets all curly Razz

I really hope to start building my little collection up when the time comes haha Very Happy I may go get some pics of my cacti and look up what types they are. I think I'm going to start caring for them actually, it's fun!

I just went and watered my cacti, I know what I have now haha lol!

I've got two scientifically called Mammillaria pilacypensis but I can't find anything on them on Google which is weird so they could have mixed the labels up... They don't look like others in the family but I guess there are tons of them anyways so never mind. And the other two are Pilocereus azureus which is defintiely right. Weird Neutral

Anyways here they all are

I got some pictures of the flowers our neighbour planted outside our home, I have absolutely no idea what they are but they're real pretty Very Happy

Jack was out the other day in the near by town and got me a little gift!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

It was wrapped up in a bag and I couldn't see it and just that moment that he'd told me not to put my hands in there I already had. He got a few curse words thrown at him Shocked
