PostSubject: Spending time with Harvey   Sun Aug 26, 2012 4:17 am

Don't you just love having a bird who actually wants to spend time with you? Of all my parrots, Harvey is probably the only one. None of the others are hand raised except for Dexter so they're not overly bothered about me really, Blackjack the lovie and Pickles the conure hybrid like spending time with me though they're parent raised but not enough to sit on me for hours on end. They like to go off and do their own thing! Dexter and Pickles are bonded so although she is hand tame she's actually more interested in being around him. That doesn't bother me, her personality is very in your face most of the time but a lot of the time she gets quite frightened if you pick her up. You just have to catch her in the right mood I guess!

Anyways, here's an hour spent with Harvey last night, isn't he just the cutest?

Although I actually hand raised Harvey for Jack, you can tell he's eyeing up me instead lol!

Harvey is such a doll and it is totally wonderful handraising them, I have a lot of teils that I bought hand raised, but they are very independent, I love them dearly and they are toatlly wonderful, but the chicks I've raised myself you can't beat them off with a stick, then just love to sit and kiss you or pick at you, they are so loving Very Happy

The zoo itself if horrific and run down in my opinion. And I'll show you what I mean when I put the pics up. I just like spending time where there's animals that aren't my own some times haha. They don't have many unusual or rare parrots but last time I went they had some yellow shouldered Amazons in with some scarlet macaws

Oh definitely, but some days he acts completely independent, eating all by himself and everything. Then another day he wont eat and you have to hand feed him. Gunna put his feedings back up AGAIN to see if we can slap some more weight on him Rolling Eyes
